With the support of nearly 250 of our loyal and kindhearted friends, Girls Hope raised more than $160,000 through this year’s signature fundraiser Dining at the White House on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Oakmont Country Club.
During this special event, sponsored by Highmark, UPMC Health Plan, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, and Huntington National Bank, our guests enjoyed an extraordinary meal prepared by White House Chef John Moeller while listening to never-before heard stories about his tenure at the White House.
Chef Moeller has spent more than 30 years traveling and working in areas from New England to the Burgundy region of France, in addition to 14 years at the White House. His service spans the terms of President George H.W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, and President George W. Bush. Chef Moeller has not only prepared meals for these three First Families, but well-known guests such as Tony Blair, Nelson Mandela, Julia Child, and Sophia Loren, to name a few. Additionally, he is author of the book “Dining at the White House – From the President’s Table to Yours.”
In addition to the delectable dinner fare, guests had the opportunity to bid on premier luxury vacations, including overnight packages at the Villa Montepulciano in Tuscany and The Lodge at Glendorn in northwestern Pennsylvania, bordering the Allegheny National Forest.
Girls Hope would like to thank all of our supporters who joined us for this special celebration. Your gift not only allows us to continue to fulfill our mission, but it shows our scholars that you, too, believe in them.
